{"id":981,"date":"2026-04-09T21:09:57","date_gmt":"2026-04-09T21:09:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/act-si.org\/?p=981"},"modified":"2026-04-14T10:54:55","modified_gmt":"2026-04-14T10:54:55","slug":"act-si-joins-critical-chemicals-alliance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/act-si.org\/en\/2026\/04\/09\/act-si-joins-critical-chemicals-alliance\/","title":{"rendered":"ACT-SI joins Critical Chemicals Alliance"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ACT-SI has been accepted by the European Comission as a member of the <a href=\"https:\/\/single-market-economy.ec.europa.eu\/sectors\/chemicals\/critical-chemicals-alliance_en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Critical Chemicals Alliance<\/a>, a key initiative under the European Chemicals Industy Action Plan, focused on one core issue: securing Europe\u2019s supply of critical chemicals.<\/p>\n<p>Europe depends on a range of essential chemicals for key value chains; from energy transition technologies to pharmaceuticals and advanced materials. Today, parts of that supply are increasingly exposed to global disruptions, high energy costs, and declining domestic production.<\/p>\n<p>The alliance is meant to address that by bringing industry and policymakers together to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>identify the most critical chemicals and value chains,<\/li>\n<li>remove bottlenecks (permitting, regulation, investment conditions),<\/li>\n<li>support production capacity in Europe,<\/li>\n<li>reduce strategic dependencies.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Slovene chemical sector is one of the strongest parts of the industrial base:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>around 800 companies operate in the sector, employing over 30,000 people,<\/li>\n<li>exports account for over 80% of revenues, making it highly exposed to global conditions,<\/li>\n<li>the sector generates around 71.000 EUR of value added,<\/li>\n<li>within manufacturing, it is among the most productive and innovation-driven segments, especially in the deployment of clean technologies.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>By joining the alliance, ACT-SI is positioning itself where these issues are being addressed at EU level:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>securing access to critical inputs,<\/li>\n<li>ensuring realistic regulatory conditions,<\/li>\n<li>supporting investment in clean innovations and production capacity.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>As part of the alliance, we will focus on advocating for concrete measures that can strengthen Europe\u2019s industrial base, while also ensuring the chemical sector continues to enable the scale-up of clean technologies.
